Caitlin Starks a 10th grader at Akins High School has kept her head held high all school year and ready to let go this summer. She gets her work done and in her free time she relaxes by playing computer games.
Caitlin has worked hard all year, kept up her grades, it has paid off and shown with a Trustee award; “If you’re in the top ten percent of your class, the school sends you a paper in the mail,” Caitlin said of how getting a Trustee award works.
Starks has had a good year with her grades, she’s gotten an award for being in the top ten percent and the top three of her class. Her parents have helped her keep her grades up, she said.
“I have so much pressure from my parents, they tell me I’m going to be the kid to go to college,” she said.
Starks had a special saying that helped her through the year. “My self motto for the year would be keep your head held high and don’t get in over yourself.” She said it meant be yourself and don’t act like something you’re not. Her motto has helped Starks keep focus and stay true to herself all school year.
Starks has good grades and is prepared for her classes, but in her down time, she lets go by playing computer games.
“ My version of fun is sitting at the computer playing games,” she said.
Caitlin thinks it’s not the most fun thing compared to others, but it matches her personality, which she described as laid back.
Caitlin is definitely ready to end this year, she has plans of going to New Mexico for an art show, and she’s already excited for what the next school year has in store. “I’m going to be in NHS, newspaper, and a bunch of other things,” Starks said,
“I’m most excited to be doing newspaper next year,” she said.
